Three teens were stabbed in a brawl near Hoover High School Monday afternoon, a school official said.
The fight broke out between seven or eight people about a block from the El Cajon Boulevard campus on Chamoune Avene shortly after noon, authorities said. A large crowd of spectators, about 60 people, soon gathered.
Dozens of district and San Diego police officers rushed to the location to help diffuse the melee, police said.
Three boys, one 15-year-old, one 16-year-old and one teen of unknown age, were stabbed in the altercation, San Diego Unified School District spokeswoman Maureen Magee.
One suffered a wound to the thigh and another to the abdomen. They were both taken to hospitals. A third teen who suffered an unspecified injury went home after the fray, officials said.
A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection the fight, Magee said. It’s unclear what role he played in the fight, but he was suspected of having a knife.
The injured boys are all students at Crawford High School but were attending summer school at Hoover High, said Magee. The fight happened shortly after summer school let out for the day.
